Meter reading in Rajkot will now be done by PGVCL personnel instead of a private company

Junior ASI has been undergoing training for 6 months: Private Company's contract terminated, PGVCL employees will soon be assigned the job of meter reader.

Rajkot: For the last five years, PGVCL has outsourced work to an outsourcing agency for meter reading in circles including Rajkot city, but now that the power company is relieving its staff, meter reading will soon be done by a team of PGVCL employees. For this, junior assistant level employees are being trained for last five-six months.

Employees of the private company were also frequently complained about their behavior in coming for meter reading, but due to lack of staff by PGVCL, the contract was continuously extended to the private company. Meanwhile, with the advent of new MDs, PGVCL is now saving financially with the approach of working through power company men instead of contractors from different departments.

There are millions of electricity consumers in Rajkot city. According to PGVCL sources, the private company's contract was due to expire in December but has been extended by one month. Now the structure is being set up for the PGVCL team to do meter readings in February. Some employees are being trained in this regard and will soon be assigned to work as meter readers. After Rajkot city circle, employees of power companies will also do meter reading in other districts.
