Gujarat to be fined again: Helmet, seatbelt campaign on highways from today
How many cases, penalties to send details to DGP every day! Protests on social media against Gujarat Police's decision, no campaign in cities including Rajkot
Rajkot: The Gujarat Police has filed maximum cases against two-wheeler drivers who do not wear helmets and drivers who do not fasten their seatbelts in the state from 5 to 15 tomorrow to collect maximum fines. Has issued a written order to the police.
As soon as the decision was announced, there was a lot of bitterness and resentment on social media and in the public discussion. It may be mentioned that agitations had taken place earlier when such a campaign had taken place and thousands had signed it when the Congress campaigned against the law in Rajkot.
The state director general of police has urged not only to make maximum number of cases of helmets and seatbelts, but also to provide details of the number of cases and fines levied in the last 24 hours till 12 noon to the state police chief by 8 am.
However, the Rajkot Traffic Police, realizing the displeasure of the people, has announced to launch the campaign only on highways including Madhapar Chowk, Gondal Chowk, Greenland Chowk in the city. Police said that in addition to helmets and seatbelts, blackouts and inscriptions on cars would also be prosecuted. It is worth mentioning that people do not object to the possibility of criminal activity in the car by wearing black glass. Seatbelts and helmets used for personal safety in the name of reducing accidents are the only two rules mentioned in the order. It is a well-known fact that most accidents are caused by speeding and reckless driving.
