'Abolish Eco Sensitive Zone' BJP, Congress and AAP protest in one voice, development of villages will be stunted



Abolish Eco Sensitive Zone in Gir National Park: A preliminary declaration of Eco Sensitive Zone has been issued around the Gir Sanctuary. Voice of protest has started rising in the villages of Gir Panthak on the issue of this announcement. Political parties including BJP, Congress and AAP have unanimously demanded the abolition of eco-sensitive zones. On Monday (September 30th), the sarpanch of Visavadar taluka, office-bearers of taluka-district panchayat, BJP-Congress leaders presented to the Chief Minister through the provincial official and raised slogans not to implement eco-sensitive zones.

Opposition to Eco Sensitive Zone in Visavadar Panthak

When it comes to declaring an eco-sensitive zone, a whirlwind of protest erupts in the village of Gir. In the year 2016 there was also a protest regarding this. Now again in the year 2024, the Central Government Forest Department has issued a draft notification to declare Gir, Pania and Mitiala as Eco Sensitive Zones. About which protest has started from Visavadar Panthak.

A program was decided to address the chief minister through the provincial officer with the demand of the BJP officials to abolish the eco-sensitive zone from Visavadar panthak. However, the Sarpanch, other parties were also to protest on the same issue. Later, they all decided to oppose the eco-sensitive zone.

Eco sensitive zone will cause many kinds of problems

Cancel Eco Zone... Cancel... Nahi Chalega, Nahi Chalega... Eco Zone Nahi Chalega... slogans were raised in the Visavadar district office. In this program, former MLA of Visavadar Harshad Ribadia, BJP President Hari Ribadia, Zilla Panchayat The members, including the sarpanch, submitted that, 'Many types of difficulties arise due to the implementation of eco-sensitive zones. Difficulty also arises when the land of the farmers has to be left uncultivated. There is a disruption in the business of the industry. Due to many such reasons, the development of the village will be stunted. It has been demanded to maintain the same status as before and to exempt Visavadar Panthak from Eco Sensitive Zone. It has been decided to continue the protest program in Visavadar Panthak until the announcement of the cancellation of Eco Sensitive Zones is made.

In the upcoming Eco Sensitive Zone, programs are being prepared for protests in Una, Gir Garhda, Talala, Kodinar, Junagadh district Mendara, Visavdar, Amreli district Dhari, Khambha etc. Farmers are afraid that the implementation of eco-sensitive zones will lead to a situation similar to the British rule. The forest department will overwhelm the farmers and the farmers may face many kinds of problems due to this. Due to this, the protest of Eco Sensitive Zone has started in the area around Gir. Still, new protest programs are to be started one after another in the entire area and a strategy is being formulated to involve all parties including the ruling party and the opposition.
