'Farmers will become slaves of Forest Department'.., Eco Sensitive Zone protest in Junagadh, BJP leaders roar against Govt.

Eco Sensitive Zone Junagadh: The issue of Eco Sensitive Zone is becoming more and more burning. A situation has arisen where the government is faced with the issue of eco zone. IFFCO chairman and BJP leader Dilip Sanghani has come into the fray openly. He has taken up the forest department on the eco zone issue and has called upon all the people's representatives to protest from village to village. BJP leader Harshad Ribdia expressed fear that the farmers will become slaves of the forest department due to the eco zone, while Bharatiya Kisan Sangh has also made preparations for the agitation for the farmers. On the other hand, farmers, gram panchayats, BJP and Congress leaders have raised their hands on the issue of eco-sensitive zones.

Shared pressure on the government to withdraw the decision

A draft notification has been issued to include 196 villages in 11 talukas of Amreli, Junagadh and Gir-Somnath districts under Eco Sensitive Zone. BJP leaders are of the opinion that farmers and Gir villages will face a lot of trouble after implementation of Eco Zone. Junagadh and Gir-Somnath district BJP presidents have demanded cancellation of eco zones.

Collective resolution of 196 Gram Panchayats to cancel eco zone

The central government is in the process of declaring an eco-sensitive zone around Gir National Park and Sanctuary, Paniya, Mitiyala, which will include 196 villages in 11 talukas of three districts. In all these villages today, resolutions have been passed in the village meetings demanding cancellation of the eco-sensitive zone. Such a big protest may have happened for the first time after independence. Due to the unanimous resolution in the village councils, the government and the forest department have been fighting each other.

As soon as the announcement was issued to implement the eco-sensitive zone, the voice of protest began to rise in Gir Panthak. The people of the village have become aggrieved by the policies of the forest department. Opposition to eco zones has become fierce. Locals and leaders have become adamant that eco-sensitive zones should not be implemented in villages at any cost. In 196 villages falling in eco sensitive zones of 11 talukas of three districts, a collective resolution has been taken against the eco zone. The government and locals have come face to face over the issue of eco-sensitive zones.

Even if development work or renovation is to be done, permission has to be taken

IFFCO Chairman Dilip Sanghani has clarified that, not as a BJP leader or IFFCO Chairman, but for the interest of farmers. Eco zone decision is totally wrong, disturbing rural life, hindering development, causing pain to people, increasing risk to small industry, farmer, trader, labour. According to Indian law, a court acquits a person who commits a murder in order to protect his livestock when it is in danger, and when a lion or other wild animal attacks a farmer or laborer and injures the animal while confronting it, he is prosecuted. And people are sent to jail. Farmers have become distraught due to the torture of Rose, Bhund. Artisans will also face difficulty in working iron in villages because there is noise while working iron. Even if many development works or renovations are to be done including school, gram panchayat building, permission has to be taken. Due to which the development of villages will be stunted.

Due to such a situation, amendments should also be made in the laws made by the previous British and Congress central government by canceling the eco-sensitive zone. Dilip Sanghani said that we will raise the voice of our village and create a situation where it falls on the ears of the government, until the government reconsiders the issue of eco-sensitive zone, we will do village-to-village agitation and I will take its leadership.

The strategy of the movement will be decided

Former Visavdar MLA and farmer leader Harshad Ribdia took the forest department by storm. He gave several examples of the difficulty of eco-sensitive zones. In which the example of the road coming to the eco zone area was given that it was decided to build the road from Junagadh to Bhesan at a cost of 40 crores, the forest department did not allow the work for three years and the government got permission after paying 3 crore rupees.

Similarly Khadia to Bilkha-Manekwada road is also not allowed to be resurfaced under the Eco Zone Act, farmers have to take permission for power connection, for non-farming, PGVCL has to take permission if electricity pole, transformer or any farmer's connection is changed.

If you want to bore a well, you have to take permission, if you want to start a commercial unit, you have to take permission, the forest department will also decide whether to drive vehicles at night or not. Farmers are suffering from many such questions. Attempts to create trouble by bringing in the law will no longer be tolerated. The strategy of the movement will be decided by taking the meetings of all the villages coming in the eco zone. Chimki has been warned that eco-sensitive zones will not be allowed to be implemented at any cost.

Leaders of Bharatiya Kisan Sangh of Junagadh, Amreli and Gir-Somnath districts met the Junagadh CCF face-to-face on several issues of farmers including eco-sensitive zones. The CCF asked the farmers to inform the DCF about the difficulties faced by the farmers on various issues. Later, the leaders of the Kisan Sangh also showed readiness to fight on the issue of farmers' eco-sensitive zones. Pravin Togadia, the founder of the International Hindu Parishad, has written to the Prime Minister and submitted that the decision on eco-sensitive zones should be taken back.

Wildlife lovers were also taken aback by Sanghani

Dilip Sanghani said that some wildlife lovers are doing wrong, they have to say come to our villages on the border of Gir and in case you get killed by a wild animal, I will give personal double assistance than government assistance, if you stay, look in the villages of Gir, cities. There is no use in talking big while staying in a bungalow, in real sense laws should be based on the fact that human beings are supreme.

Inclusion of 196 villages in eco-sensitive zones

Various laws have been enacted by the central government for the protection and breeding of animals across the country, including the Asiatic lion found in Gujarat. Giving more information about this, Forest Minister Mulubhai said that the new Eco-Sensitive Zone area will cover a total of 17 river corridors and 4 important lion movement corridors. In addition, a total of 59 villages of Junagadh, Visavdar, Maliya Hatina and Mendara talukas of Junagadh district will be included around the Gir protected area. Apart from this, a total of 72 villages from Dhari, Khambha and Savarkundla talukas of Amreli district and a total of 65 villages from Una, Gir-Somnath, Kodinar and Talala talukas of Gir-Somnath district will be included. Thus, total 196 villages of the three districts will include 24,680.32 hectares of forest area and 1,59,785.88 hectares of non-forest area, totaling 1,84,466.20 hectares. Inclusion of this area in eco-sensitive zone along with special protection to Viharta Singh families in this area, reduction of 10 km eco-sensitive zone area from the extent of till now Gir protected area to this new eco-sensitive zone will further boost other developmental activities in the localities.
