Smugglers raid mobile showroom in Rajkot, steal Rs 23 lakh

Rajkot: Police patrol smugglers have opened a poll in Rajkot on Diwali. The smugglers targeted a mobile showroom named Fowale near Mansata Chowk on Gondal Road and found a mobile phone worth Rs 16 lakh and cash worth Rs 3 lakh. Incident of stealing cash of Rs 5,000 including has been registered with the police.

Malviya Nagar police had registered a case against show smuggler Yash Dineshbhai Thadeshwar (UV4, resident of Vardhman Heights, near SRP camp, New 150 feet ring road) and arrested him in connection with the case. The mobile showroom was open till late last night and later the staff was returning home after closing the showroom.

This morning the staff including manager Yash came to open the showroom. Looking inside the locker room, the goods were seen scattered in the showroom. Staff including PI KN Bhukan and writer Mayurbhai Miyatra, who informed the Malviya Nagar police about the theft, reached there.

Preliminary investigations show that the smugglers broke the POP roof of the showroom from the sheets of the shed at the back of the showroom. According to police sources, the smugglers smuggled Rs 12.5 lakh from the showroom, two mobiles of different companies and Rs 2.50 lakh cash kept in the vault of a two-day trader which was in a drawer inside the showroom. A total of Rs 2.09 lakh was stolen. The smugglers also targeted a shop called Ramdev Electronics near the showroom and found Rs 5,000 in cash and a DVR of CCTV and stole a total of Rs 5,000. Currently, the police have registered a case and are conducting further investigations.
