25 per cent increase in complaints to Rajkot Municipal Corporation, 1 lakh for sewer overflow!
More than 2 lakh complaints per year against five lakh properties: 1.92 lakh in the year 2020-21 against this year. As on March 10, 2.41 lakh, 50,000 complaints of sanitation and water were registered in Manpa, now complaints can also be registered on WhatsApp.
Rajkot: The round-the-clock call center for accepting complaints from the Rajkot Municipal Corporation has seen a sharp rise of 25 per cent in complaints in the current financial year as compared to Corona's last year. With 20 days to go before the end of the current year, the total number of complaints has reached 2,41,733, with the highest number of 1.08 lakh complaints coming from underground gutters only, including sewerage.
Underground seepage means septic tanks, including head-splitting dirt, flow on the road. The number of such complaints has increased from 63,499 last year to 45,000 this year. The second highest number of complaints of streetlights being closed was 46,263 last year and 44,500 so far this year. It is to be mentioned that these two complaints have been the highest for years.
Complaints against water distribution, especially in case of line leakage, non-availability of water or non-availability of water, remained unchanged. As many as 25,157 complaints have been registered till March 10 this year as against 28,355 last year.
The figure has crossed 25371 so far this year against a total of 22,262 complaints of filth last year in the Municipal Corporation of India (MCCI), which is constantly talking about the sanitation mission. According to a statement issued by the Municipal Corporation of India, the biggest problems in the city today are drainage maintenance, streetlights, water distribution and sanitation. There are also complaints of illegal construction, pressure on the road, harassment of stray dogs, mosquito infestation etc.
