Navratri 2024, Chotila: The festival of Navratri holds special significance in Hinduism and during Navratri people get immersed in devotion. Even at Chotila, the legendary pilgrimage center of Surendranagar district, a crowd of Mai devotees thronged the morning before Navratri (3rd October). On the first day, thousands of devotees were blessed with the darshan of Chamunda Mataji from morning till evening.

Special significance of Chamunda Mataji's darshan

On the occasion of Navratri festival, the rush of devotees increases in the temples of Adyashakti including Pavagad, Ambaji in Gujarat. At that time, more than 62,000 devotees worshiped at the feet of Chamunda Mataji in Chotila from dawn to dusk. The darshan of Chamunda Mataji enshrined at Chotila is of special importance and every twelve months a large number of devotees, including Punam, throng to see her.

The gates of the steps were opened at 4:30 a.m. by the Chotila Mandir Dungar Trust, this year also on October 3 this year, keeping in mind the rush of devotees during Navratri. However, the devotees had already reached Patangan below the hill of Chamunda Mataji by night. Chamunda Mataji, seated on the hill, started climbing the hill as soon as the path opened. Morning Aarti time has also been changed to 5:00 PM during Navratri. Then the devotees also took advantage of Chamunda Mataji's aarti.

Tight police presence

Devotees from surrounding districts including Surendranagar district including Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Mehsana, Banaskantha, Panchmahal and also from outside the state flocked to have darshan of Chamunda Mataji. Besides, the pedestrians arrived at the Sangh on foot carrying Mataji's flag and instruments. Then the whole atmosphere became devotional. Keeping in view the Navratri crowd, the Chotila police team also made a tight police arrangement from the foothills to the hills. During the nine days of Navratri, special decorations are also done to Chamunda Mataji.

According to the temple mahant, around 62,400 devotees thronged to have a darshan of Norate Chotila Chamunda Mataji before Navratri and bowed down at her feet and received blessings. When the whole atmosphere on the steps including Chotila Dungar was echoed with the sound of Chamunda Matki Jai.
