Trade closes in Saurashtra today in protest of 7 per cent tax hike on textiles

Rajkot: People are fed up with unbearable taxes and heavy government charges even on the necessities of life without which life is not possible. There is a sense of resentment among traders against raising GST to 12 per cent. The traders of Saurashtra along with the nation will try to overthrow the government by holding a half-day shutdown tomorrow, protesting.
About 5,000 readymade retailers and wholesalers in the city will go on strike for half a day tomorrow after textile and textile traders' associations in Rajkot along with 10 other trade associations approached the collector. Dam boards have been erected in several major markets, including the city's Gundawadi.
In Junagadh, traders will hold a half-day business shutdown tomorrow and will hold a blackout on Mangnath Road at 7 pm. Attempts will be made to give voice to the people who have been pushed into the darkness of inflation. The Amreli Textiles Association said that since the Corona era, business has been in recession at a time when the government has imposed GST on clothing and textiles. The decision to increase has led to a decision by traders to sink into the grip of inflation which has been opposed and has been submitted to the Finance Minister. Apart from this, there are protests all over Saurashtra including Jamnagar, Morbi, Gir Somnath, Porbandar.
On the one hand, due to high duty on petrol and diesel, Rs. 95 liters per liter, edible oil is expensive, if people buy chewing gum for immunity to fight against corona, it is also taxed and if it goes out, high toll tax is levied at increasing rate. The people expressed their grief over the policy of levying tax on everything.
