Dilapidated condition of farmers in 30 villages due to dam overflow due to heavy rains: Crops including groundnut, cotton castor, tuvar and adas washed away

Rajkot,: Farmers Coordination Committee will report to the Chief Minister that there has been heavy damage to the fields of the villages located in the low-lying area of Aji-4 Dam in Jodia Taluka of Jamnagar District due to the re-flow of flood waters after heavy rains. Since the cultivation of groundnut, cotton, castor, tuvar, urad and guar has been cleared in the lands of the farmers of 3 villages in this area, it has been urged to carry out the damage survey immediately.

Due to heavy rain in Halar division, fields of Sankyaband village have been washed away due to overflow reservoirs in several water bodies. In this regard, the Chief Minister has announced Aji-1, Aji-2, Aji-3 and Aji-4 due to heavy rain in the villages including Jamsar, Ranjitpar, Bhimkata, Balabha, Sampar, Madhapar, Morana, Jiragarh, Jasapar, Pithad, Rasnal, Timbadi, Bodaka. The water from the dam overflow has washed away the stubble of the fields. There has been heavy damage due to soil erosion in the fields. Although the plantations have been preserved by doing a lot of maintenance, as the soil has been washed away, expensive seeds, fertilizers, medicine and labor have fallen on them. As the economic condition of the farmers is becoming alarming, it has been suggested that a survey of the damage caused by heavy rain in this Vasitra should be conducted urgently and the financial compensation should be paid to the farmers at the earliest and the lease of sand extraction from the Aji-4 riverbed area should be stopped.
